Anterior Cruciate Ligament Tear (Torn ACL)


The Anterior Cruciate Ligament is one of four major knee ligaments, and is very important involving knee stability.

Symptoms of torn ACL: Instability of the knee
Knee Tightness and swelling (caused by torn blood vessels)
sharp/throbbing pain
loss of strength & range of motion

The body system affected by this injury are the skeletal system because the ACL is crucial in keeping the knee stable to perform everyday activites.

Extra Info: Ligament repair surgery is one of the most common among orthopedic surgeons. Because Torn ACLs are most common in sporting events, and sports are a large part of society many ACL injuries occur weekly.
