Esophageal Cancer




Symptoms.

  • severe weight loss
  • vomiting
  • coughing up blood
  • serious cough
  • pain or trouble swallowing
  • pain in the throat, back, behind the breastbone, or between the shoulder blades.

Esophageal cancer affects homeostasis because it makes it more difficult for the person to swallow food. Without food entering the body no nutrients can be absorbed into the blood stream and delivered to the organs. Also, vomiting is a common side effect so any food that might have been eaten could easily be thrown back up.
